Dear St. Mary’s Families:

Thank you for a great opening of school!  As usual, there are some adjustments that need to be made but we will work through all of that and notify you of any changes. Please be on the lookout for Formal Uniform guidelines.

 

Looking forward to next week, we have a full week ahead:

*Monday: Picture Day – Formal Uniforms

*Thursday: Special Mass Day with Bishop Brennan- Formal Uniforms

                     Mass at 1:00 at Immaculate Conception

Families invited but students must sit the their class

*Friday: Early Dismissal Day at NOON.

Dress Down Day for students.

No mass.

Parent Visitation is from 10:00am -noon.

*Monday, September 5:  Labor Day – no school.

*Tuesday, September 6:  HandS (Home and School Association) meeting at 6:00 pm in the school auditorium.

 

Notes of Interest:

 

Formal Uniform Reminders: (Every Friday unless mass is on a different day that week.)

All girls must wear white blouses, a plaid skirt/jumper and navy or white knee socks or tights.

All boys must have on a tie, white dress shirt and navy blue long pants.

Shoes are to be a dress shoe (navy, brown, black) not tennis shoes or white soled shoes,  must have a belt if the pants have belt loops.

Jackets must be the school approved fleece jacket.

 

Tuition Assistance Program (TAPS)

Phase II of TAPS is open to all Catholic families for tuition assistance. Applications may be submitted through FACTS and factsmgt.com until August 31. Awards will be announced on September 8.

 

Phase III of TAPS is currently open to all Catholic and non-Catholic families. Applications will close on September 2nd. We encourage any interested families to apply.

 

COVID-19 Protocols

The following procedures for COVID-19 are in place for this year. The school will not be conducting contact tracing at this time. Please note, all protocols regarding COVID-19 are subject to change.

  • Masks are optional
  • If a student tests positive for COVID-19, please contact the office as soon as possible.
  • If a student tests positive, he/she must stay home for 5 days. The student may return to school on day 6 if he/she has been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications and symptoms are improving.
  • A student who tests positive must wear a well-fitting mask on days 6 through 10.
  • While the school will not be conducting contact tracing, we encourage families to monitor students for symptoms if they have a known exposure to COVID-19.

 

Summer Reading Challenge:  It is time to return your Summer Reading Logs!!! Please return all logs by Friday, Sept 2!

 

22-23 Food Service Program:  Meals will be billed directly from Notre Dame Cafeteria on a monthly basis.  The meal costs are:

Breakfast Snack $1.50

Lunch PK3-3 $2.75

4th – 12th $3.50

All reduced meal costs are .40.

 

Office Forms:  At Open House or the first day of school, you received a packet of forms that need to be completed and returned to school.  Please do this quickly.  The office needs this information immediately.

 

Mass:  As a school, students and staff in PK3-6th grade will attend Mass every Friday.  Students are to wear Formal Uniforms on Fridays.

 

Mass with Bishop Brennan:  On September 1, Bishop Brennan will be in our schools to visit with children and then do an all schools mass for our students at 1:00.  Families are invited to attend mass. Students will be required to sit with their class in the front of the church.  Families are asked to fill in pews around and behind the students. Students must wear Formal Uniforms on September 1.

 

21-22 Yearbooks:  We have Yearbooks from last year available for sale from the office.  The cost is $15.  You may send cash or check made payable to St. Mary’s in an envelope and we will send a Yearbook home with your child.

 

Keepers:  Keepers is an after school childcare program provided by St. Mary’s from 2:30- 5:30pm.  It is supervised by Mr. Sam Lopez, Mrs. Angela Fittro, and students from Notre Dame High School.  The cost is $5 per hour and is open to all students in grades PK3 – 8th grade.  Students will receive homework assistance the first hour of the program.

 

Bridgeport Bus:  Students may ride a Harrison County School Bus to Bridgeport in the evenings.  It picks up here at 2:25 and goes directly to Simpson Elementary and Bridgeport Middle School. Please complete the form in your packet to let us know if your child will be using this bus.

 

Notre Dame will be hosting a Golf Tournament on Friday, September 9, at the Clarksburg Country Club. This annual fundraiser benefits the ND High School Athletic Department.  Please contact the school for more information.

 

Evening Pick Up:  Students will be released to the back parking lot the same as last year.  An adult must walk to the Crosswalk area to pick up students.  Please be very careful as you are pulling out.  Children have a tendency to wander and run around.  We do not want anyone to get hurt!

October 7-14:  Scholastic Book Fair

October 10:  Tech Day- students work from home

October 13:  Early Dismissal at NOON, Parent-Teacher Conferences from 3:00-6:00pm

October 13:  Picture Retake Day

October 24:  End of 1st Nine Weeks

October 28:  Report Cards Home
