Dear Parents and Guardians,

We will be using a traffic light system to monitor the
students’ behavior in the classroom this year. We will
start to learn the rules and how the stoplight works on the
first day of school and we will review them daily.

OUR RULES: 1. We are kind to others.
2. We listen to the teachers.
3. We help keep our classroom clean.
4. We play safely.

At the start o f every day each child will begin on the green light. The
green light is a reminder that they are making good choices, following
classroom rules, and to keep doing what they are doing. Their light will
remain green if they continue to follow the rules and make good choices. If
the student starts to make bad choices, they will be given multiple verbal
warnings and be reminded that they need to slow down and think about what
they are doing. If they continue with the behavior after their warning, they
move up to the yellow light.

The yellow light is a reminder that they need to think about the choices
they are making and to make sure they try their best to follow the classroom
rules. They will have the opportunity to move back to the green light if
they change their behavior and follow the rules for the rest of the day. If the
student continues to make bad choices after being given many opportunities
to try and follow the rules, they will then move up to the red light.

The red light is a reminder to STOP what they are doing because they are
not making good choices. The student will sit in the “Thinking Spot” for a few
minutes to take a break. They will have the opportunity to move back to a
yellow light if they change their behavior and follow the rules for the rest
of the day. If the behavior continues, we will contact you to figure out how
we can work together to make a positive change. If a child hits, bites,
pushes, or is physical with another student for any reason, that is an
immediate red light and we will let you know by sending a note home.

If your child stayed on the green light for the day they will have a stamp on their hand to show you that
they had a great day!! Please do not hesitate to contact me about anything
that you are concerned about. Thank you for your support.
In Christ,

Miss Emily & Miss Joyce
