STOPLIGHT Preschool Classroom Rules

STOPLIGHT RULES REMINDER!!

We are working daily on creating a loving, peaceful, fun and positive classroom. We continue to work everyday on making good choices. These are the good choices that each day we ask the students to remember!

1. We are nice to others.
2. We listen to the teachers.
3. We help keep our classroom clean.
4. We play safely.

At the start of every day each child will begin on the green light. The green light is a reminder that they are making good choices, following classroom rules, and to keep doing what they are doing. Their light will remain green if they continue to follow the rules and make good choices.  The students that remain on green at the end of the day will have a stamp on their hand to show, as well as a sticker on the behavior log in their folder.

If the student starts to make bad choices, they will be given multiple verbal warnings, that they need to slow down and think about what they are doing.  If they continue after the warning, they move up to the yellow light. The yellow light is a reminder that they need to think about the choices they are making and to make sure they try their best to follow the classroom rules.  They will have the opportunity to move back to a green light if they change their behavior and follow the rules for the rest of the day.  If the student continues to make bad choices after being given an opportunity to try and follow the rules, they will have to move up to the red light.

The red light is a reminder to STOP what they are doing because they are not making good choices. The student will sit in the “Thinking Spot” for three minutes to take a break. They will have the opportunity to move back to a yellow light if they change their behavior and follow the rules for the rest of the day. (It will be noted on their behavior log for the day what rules they had trouble following and they will NOT receive a stamp. If the behavior persists, we will contact you to figure out how we can work together to make a positive change. If a child hits, bites, pushes, or is physical with another student for any reason, that is an immediate red light and we will let you know by sending you a note home.

Please do not hesitate to contact me about anything that you are concerned about.
